New IPL Teams 2011 Declared And Auctioned

The new IPL teams in 2011 will make the count of IPL teams ten. This according to the Chairman and commissioner of the Indian Premier League (IPL) will increase the number of matches to 94 in the next season. However, since the stadium at Kochi is still not ready and will take some time to come up, the IPL will decide the venue for the Kochi team’s play until then. The Kerala Cricket Association is building the Kochi stadium which according to reports, will come up as a world class stadium.
According to Lalit Modi, the plan to introduce more teams in IPL was masterminded by non other than the State for External affairs Minister Shashi Tharoor who had wanted to create a team from his native state. However, Lalit Modi also said that his involvement with the whole event has only stretched to that point. The new IPL teams were auctioned in Chennai. The Sahara Adventure Sports group bid the highest of $370 millions for the Pune team and owned it. The Rendezvous Sports World Ltd won the Kochi team by placing a bid of $333.33 millions. Both the teams are hopeful to make it big in the next season of the IPL.
