CONNECTICUT (GaeaTimes.com)- Maya Moore became the third player in the history of the trophy to win the State Farm Wade Trophy Player of the Year two times in a row. She is also the seventh player in the history of the University of Connecticut to be awarded the honor. She was also named to be one of the members of the State Farm All-American team. She shared the trophy with one of her team members in the University of Connecticut’s women’s basketball team, Tina Charles, who was also named into the State Farm All-American team, along with some other players from other universities.
The great honor was conferred to Maya Moore on Saturday, in a ceremony that was conducted in Alamodome. This is the second time consecutively that Maya Moore has managed to win the trophy. At present, Maya Moore seems to have come under a lucky spell, for just the day after she received the prestigious trophy, she managed to perform great in the game against Baylor, in which she scored 34 points, and also managed to make 12 rebounds.
After receiving their respective awards, both Maya Moore and Tina Charles seemed to be full of praises for each other. While Maya Moore lauded Tina Charles to be one of the most enthusiastic players in the team, congratulating her on her meteoric rise as a basketball player, Tina Charles credited Maya Moore to be almost completely responsible for her success, saying that Maya Moore had been the one who had pushed her and encouraged her to perform better and better.
