TOKYO, JAPAN (GaeaTimes.com)- Japanese Golfer Yuko Mitsuka has voluntarily banned herself for the coming eleven Women’s golf tournaments after she was heavily fined for walking out of the field midway during the first round of the World Ladies Championship after being penalized with two-shot penalty for slow play. Yuko Mitsuka was fined a whopping US$21,500 by the Ladies Professional Golfers Association of Japan. According to the latest reports, the Japanese golfer has withdrawn herself voluntarily from eight domestic games and three overseas tournaments. She had taken this step as a sign of penance for the mistake that has been committed by her. The announcement of the withdrawal was made by Yuko Mitsuka on Wednesday.
Hideaki Otani said to media sources that the fine levied upon Yuko Mitsuka is the biggest that has ever been levied upon a player in Japan. He said that the fine has created a record in the LPGA history. Hideaki Otani added that the amount of fine indicates the seriousness of the issue and Yuko Mitsuka has done the right thing by withdrawing from the games. The tour has accepted the ban that Yuko Mitsuka has offered as it is the right punishment for the misbehavior that she had done during the last week’s golf tournament.
JLPGA chief Hisako Higuchi said to media sources after declaring the fine that the self imposed ban for the eleven tournaments will have a serious impact on the career of Yuko Mitsuka. He added that this ban should act as a “lesson” for other golfers. According to Hisako Higuchi, Yuko Mitsuka had to take responsibility of the wrong she had done. However, by imposing the ban on herself Yuko Mitsuka has on the other hand saved her from facing much more serious consequences.
