FARGO, NORTH DAKOTA (GaeaTimes.com)- Mark Knutson, the director of the Fargo Marathon, is a happy man these days. According to reports, the marathon has expanded manifold, and the latest news from Fargo says that this time more than 20,000 runners are supposed to be a part of the event. When we take into account the fact that the first Fargo Marathon had only 2,271 competitors the event has surely come a long way.
The Fargo Marathon is thus underway with the full marathon, the half marathon, the 10K and the team relays scheduled for today. In a statement released by the marathon authorities, it is clear that 2,200 runners have registered their names for the full marathon, 6,500 have signed up for the half marathon, 1,600 will be participating in the team relays and 2,800 will be running in the 10K. Apart from that 2,400 runners have already taken part in the youth run held on Thursday.
With so many interested candidates for this year’s marathon, Mark Knutson is obviously pleased with the turn-up. However he has also taken into account the fact that certain candidates may not be able to show up for the final race. Still, the Fargo Marathon 2010 has surely caught the interest of many around the world and it is expected to be a popular watch in the coming days. Added to this is the favorable weather in Fargo these days. Contrary to earlier forecast of a hot and humid weather, the place will reportedly experience thunderstorms during the marathon days. This means that temperatures will be low and this will help further help the runners feel the organizers.
