RANCHI - Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni is all set to realize his dream of launching a cricket academy in Ranchi.
Dhoni has approached Central Coalfields Limited (CCL) for the setting up of a cricket academy to nurture young talent and budding players from Jharkhand and Bihar.
The central coalfields felicitated him for his contribution to the state team and the Indian cricket team.
Speaking on the occasion, Dhoni said that the central coalfields were trying to devise a formula to help in promoting sports in the state.
He said his new project would provide a platform for budding cricketers to groom themselves for India’s biggest domestic cricket tournament, the Ranji Trophy.
“We are planning to start a cricket team again here. And we are hoping that the youngsters get facilities to practice for four-five to upto seven months so that they can groom themselves well for the Ranji Trophy level, and be a permanent part of the team.
And if they perform well in the domestic tournament they will rise to a much higher level,” he added. (ANI)
