Camoranesi limps off Italy’s training field
SESTRIERE, Italy — Midfielder Mauro Camoranesi should be ready for Italy’s World Cup opener after he limped off the training field with a left knee injury.
Team physician Enrico Castellacci said Tuesday that tests revealed no tears in Camoranesi’s meniscus, adding that “he should be back in a few days. … We’re hoping to get him back for the first game against Paraguay.”
Italy opens the World Cup against Paraguay on June 14.
Camoranesi will likely miss friendlies this week against Mexico and Switzerland.

Hopefully there’s not serious ligament damage. It would be a big loss. Barlow Walseth |
