Honduras loses 3-0 to Romania in last WCup warmup
ST. VEIT, Austria — Honduras lost to Romania 3-0 Saturday in its final World Cup warmup game, its winless streak stretched to five matches.
Honduras hasn’t won since beating the United States 3-1 in an exhibition game in January.
Romania led 2-0 at halftime on goals by Marius Nicolae in the 20th minute and Gheorghe Florescu in the 45th minute. Mirel Radoi made a a penalty kick in the 76th minute.
Honduras opens World Cup play June 16 against Chile. It will also face Switzerland and Spain in Group H. Romania failed to qualify for the tournament in South Africa.
