PGA Tour back east for Travelers Championship
CROMWELL, Conn. — The PGA Tour is back on the East Coast for the Travelers Championship at the TPC River Highlands, and the Connecticut stop is packing plenty of star power.
The tournament tees off Thursday, but Wednesday is celebrity pro-am day, with stars including Michael Bolton, Joe Pesci and Rob Morrow golfing with the professionals.
The round also features several major players in the sports world, including baseball Hall of Famer Ozzie Smith, Heisman Trophy winner Doug Flutie and New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick.
Top golfers typically take the week after a major championship off, but the tournament has commitments some big names, including a slimmer John Daly, defending champion Kenny Perry, Vijay Singh, Stewart Cink and Retief Goosen, who will be making his first appearance in Cromwell.
