Shea helps FC Dallas knock off RSL 2-0
FRISCO, Texas — Brek Shea had a goal and an assist to lift FC Dallas to a 2-0 win over Real Salt Lake on Saturday night, ending its 10-game MLS unbeaten streak.
Dallas hasn’t lost in six league games.
Shea scored in the 69th minute, on a rebound from Milton Rodriguez’s shot, knocking the ball into the far corner from the top left of the box. Rodriguez, from Colombia, was making his FC Dallas debut.
That snapped a 566-minute scoreless streak for Real Salt Lake goalkeeper Nick Rimando, who had five straight clean sheets. The 566 minutes were third longest in MLS history. Only FC Dallas’ Kevin Hartman and Houston’s Pat Onstad have gone longer.
Eight minutes after his goal, Shea took a cross from USA international Heath Pearce and tapped the ball to Atiba Harris, who fired a right-footed shot into the center of the net from the top of the box.
Hartman made two saves for his fifth shutout of the season and Rimando finished with five saves.
