NEW DELHI, INDIA (GaeaTimes.com) — The rage of controversy that arouses over the nationality issue of Chess stalwart Viswanathan Anand, seems to have dried down with the HRD minister Kapil Sibal apologizing over the whole matter.
The recent news suggest that Anand has now agreed to accept the honorary doctorate from University of Hyderabad.
Anand, who has supposedly made Spain his second home for some years and still holding an Indian passport, was questioned on his nationality. This prevents Anand conferring the doctorate.
On this issue, Kapil Sibal said, “Procedural error has led to problems regarding doctorate to Anand…immediate corrective action was taken…I told him that we are sorry for what has transpired,”
Sibal also stated that the problem regarding Anand’s nationality has been resolved and he will be conferred the doctorate in a function that will be held on any convenient date of Anand.
