SANTAREM - Sunil Chettri scored a brace as India escaped with a 3-2 win over third division Portuguese team Sertanense FC in a practice match at the Almeirim Stadiu here.
In the match played Tuesday evening, Kansas City Wizards striker Sunil Chettri opened the scoring in the 14th minute off Mohammed Rafi’s pass and doubled the lead in the 22nd minute with a header from goalkeeper Subrata Pal free kick from centre.
But India’s joys were short-lived as Sertanense pulled one back seven minutes later and then went on to score the second goal in the 59th minute.
After conceding the equalizer, India showed some urgency in search of the winner and their hard work finally paid off when N.P. Pradeep found the back of the net off Anthony Pereira’s pass in the 77th minute.
