NEW YORK (GaeaTimes.com) — It seems that Tiger Wood is going to lose his crown as the World’s No. 1 golfer to Phil Mickelson or Steve Stricker in Monday’s last round of the PGA Deutsche bank Champion.
At the end of Sunday’s play, Wood fired a two-under par 69 to share 23rd place in the tournament. Jason Day of Australia is leading the chart by 10 strokes after 54 holes of the second stage of the US playoff system. But the tournament has been overshadowed by the possibility of Woods loosing his 5 year’s grip on golf’s world number 1 ranking. He has gone winless since last November’s eruption of the scandal that saw him admitting the fact that he was cheating on his wife and had several mistresses.
In case of Striker to claim the 1st spot, he must win the 7.5 million-dollar event and also have Woods finish outside the top nine while Mickelson not being placed among the top three. On the other hand, Mickelson has his 10th opportunity of the year to overtake Woods and become world number one for the first time.
Let us see what happens in today’s game. Will Woods be coming back in action anytime soon? Or his career as a golfer is finally over? Do let us know what you think on this.
