Virender Sehwag gets his 23rd Test century (Statistical highlights)

NEW DELHI - India’s Virender Sehwag got his 23rd Test century - the eighth against Australia - while the visitors posted their highest total (428) on day two of their first cricket Test in Mohali Saturday.
Following are the other highlights on the second day of the Test:
# For the third time in consecutive innings against Australia at Mohali, Virender Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir have posted opening stands of 70 or more - 70 & 182 in October 2008 and 81 in October 2010.
# For the first time, Zaheer Khan (5/94) has captured five wickets in an innings at PCA Stadium, Mohali. He is the second Indian bowler after Amit Mishra (5/71 in 2008) to claim five wickets in an innings against Australia at Mohali.
# Zaheer’s third instance of five wickets in an innings against Australia is his tenth in Tests.
# Zaheer has captured five wickets in an innings at home just three times in 30 Tests.
# Zaheer is the top wicket-taker for India in 2010 - 27 wickets at 22.40 runs apiece in five Tests
# Virender Sehwag is the second Indian player after Sachin Tendulkar (867) to aggregate 800 runs in 2010, amassing
850 at an average of 70.83 in eight Tests, including four centuries and four fifties.
# Ishant Sharma has bowled ten no-balls in Australia’s innings of 428 - the most bowled by him in an innings. He had delivered 9 balls in an innings twice - against Pakistan at Bangalore in 2007-08 and against South Africa at Kolkata in 2009-10.
# Ben Hilfenhaus (20 not out off 38 balls) has registered his second highest in Tests - his best ever is - 56 not out against Pakistan at Lord’s in July this year
# Tim Paine and Hilfenhaus were involved in a partnership of 54 for the ninth wicket - Australia’s best ever at Mohali, eclipsing the 50 between Michael Clarke and Mitchell Johnson in October 2008.
# Johnson’s superb knock of 47 is the highest by number eight Australian batsman at Mohali.
# Doug Bollinger has posted his third duck in Tests
# Tim Paine and Johnson, with their 82-run partnership, have set a seventh wicket record for Australia at Mohali.
# Australia (428) have registered their highest total at Mohali.
# Shane Watson’s 126 off 338 balls is his best ever
innings in Tests, beating the 120 not out against Pakistan at Melbourne in December 2009.
# Pragyan Ojha’s outstanding economy rate of 2.18 is his best in a Test innings, bowling a minimum of 25 overs in an innings.
# Tim Paine has posted his maiden Test fifty, bettering the 47 against Pakistan at Lord’s in July 2010.
# Paine became the second Australian wicketkeeper to be dismissed in the nineties in India. Ian Healy had posted 90 at Chennai in March 1998.
# Mitchell Johnson, during the course of his 47 off 66 balls, became the 12th Australian all-rounder to complete the double of 1,000 runs and 100 wickets.
# Johnson’s 47 is his second best innings against India, next only to his unbeaten 50 at Perth in January 2008.
