Defiant Australia frustrate India with 384/5 at lunch

BANGALORE - A defiant Australia piled up 384 for five in their first innings against India on the second day of the second cricket Test at the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium here Sunday.
Marcus North was batting on 81 and wicketkeeper Tim Paine on 52 at lunch. The middle order pair added 89 runs in 24.5 overs, putting up 128 runs for the sixth wicket.
Resuming at the overnight 285 for five, North and Paine tormented an aggressive Indian bowling attack after a cautious start to settle down and stepped out to hit short-pitch balls over the fence. They also rotated the strike with singles and doubles.
Seamer S.Sreesanth had Paine caught behind by skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni when the score was 368, but umpire Ian Gould called back the the Australian wicketkeeper declaring it a no-ball after third umpire Amish Saheba ruled not out.
India had won the first Test at Mohali.
