COLOMBO - Sri Lankan spin wizard Muttiah Muralidaran’s preparations for next year’s World Cup will continue when he arrives in Australia on Sunday to play a three-match ODI series.

The tour will be Muralidaran’s last tour of Australia before retiring from international cricket after the World Cup.

“This is the last time I will be in Australia for cricket and I am really looking forward to it. Hopefully it is a good tour and everything goes well,” Fox Sports quoted Muralidaran, as saying.

“The World Cup is the last time I will be playing cricket and this is preparation for that. Australia is always a very strong team in their own country and it will be good to play them again,” he added.

The 38-year-old has not played an ODI for Sri Lanka since the Asia Cup in June, where he took just three wickets in three matches at an average of 47.66.

Sri Lanka will play their first match of the tour on October 31. (ANI)
