Cameron White’s ‘cannonball’ ODI form could earn him an Oz Test spot

MELBOURNE - Victorian middle-order batsman Cameron White cannonball run glut in one-day internationals, including the recent one held at Vizag, has probably shortlisted him for a recall into the Australian Test team.
White’s 89 off 49 balls against India was a brutal reminder of his prowess and Australia’s selectors are happily placed in making a choice between finesse or a one-man firestorm. Between Usman Khawaja, Callum Ferguson or White.
“I still want to play Test cricket for Australia, and the best opportunity I can give myself to do that is to play well for Australia in this format and Victoria when I get to play first-class cricket,” Fox Sports quoted White, as saying.
He added: “I think I know what I need to do, score as many runs as I can, and if I can bowl a bit that would help also. I hope I’m not far away. You’d have to ask the selectors, I don’t know whether I’m next in line or 20 or 30 blokes down the track.”
White played four Tests against India in 2008.
“It was a great thing, something no one can take away from me,” he said. (ANI)
