ROHTAK - Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda felicitated ace shooter Gagan Narang here on Friday for winning four gold medals at the XIXth Commonwealth Games.
Narang is optimistic about winning medals in the Olympic Games.
“I like the fact that I won medals for my country. I think it is the best feeling when your hard work turns into medals and you make your country feel proud. I used to practice in Faridabad’s shooting range and have received a lot of support from the government because of which I qualified even for the Olympic Games. If I continue to get such support, I will definitely win medals even there,” said Narang.
Hooda organised a small gathering at his residence in Rohtak to congratulate Narang.
“All the athletes and sports persons have performed extremely well in the Commonwealth Games. We have never won so many medals before. We have won 101 medals! It is a very proud moment for all of us,” said Hooda.
“Everyone was accusing us before the Commonwealth Games that we would not be able to organise it, but the way it was arranged and the way the sportsmen performed, it was mind blowing. This proves that we are capable of arranging the Olympics as well. The players from Haryana have played the best among all the players of other regions,” he added.
Narang is now targeting at the upcoming Asian Games, scheduled to be held from November 12 to 27, 2010 in China. (ANI)
