Hogan won’t let England quickly adjust to bouncier Oz pitches: Arthur

MELBOURNE - Western Australian coach Mickey Arthur has said that pacer Michael Hogan will pose a significant threat to England’s bid to immediately adjust to Australia’s bouncier pitches.

Hogan (29) from Newcastle has been thrust into the role of the Warriors’ lead attack bowler because of a number of injuries within the squad.

Arthur believed the 195-centimetre long Hogan could be influential against the England batsmen.

“Hoges will trouble any batsman when he gets it right. He’s a quality performer … and he’s bowled superbly well all year. I expect him to trouble any batter,” The Age quoted him, as saying.

“He’s the type of bowler - and I said this to him the other day - that wouldn’t be out of sorts at international level,” Arthur said.

The bowling depth of New South Wales meant Hogan’s form in Sydney grade cricket was not recognised with first-class selection, until moving to Perth last season following a successful trial with the Warriors.

He made his debut less than a year ago but already has 49 wickets for WA across the three formats. (ANI)
