LAHORE - Pakistan team manager Intikhab Alam has fined three national players for disciplinary reasons after they were late “by five minutes” in returning to the team hotel in the United Arab Emirates.
Opener Shahzaib Hasan, spinner Abdul Rehman and wicket-keeper Zulqarnain Haider were fined 500 dirhams (136 dollars) on Sunday for breaking curfew timings during the ongoing one-day series against South Africa, the Daily Times reported.
“We have reminded the players that there will be no tolerance on discipline, and after these three players returned late to the team hotel by five minutes they have been fined and issued show-cause notices,” said Alam.
The team manager also said that the players had been warned of severe consequences if they breached the code of conduct again, as they would then be punished with double fines and other sanctions.
Last month, Pakistan had introduced a new code of conduct for players, with stricter punishments after being plagued with problems of discipline and corruption, which rocked their cricket recently. (ANI)
