SYDNEY - England skipper Andrew Strauss insists that glory during the upcoming Ashes series would be just a stepping stone to his team’s ultimate goal of world domination.
Strauss said that he is determined to lift the England team up from their current world No.4 ranking.
“We don’t want to win The Ashes then retreat into our cave. Our long-term goal is to be the best in the world,” the Sun quoted Strauss, as saying.
The 33-year-old is further convinced that his side is 100 per cent ready to crush the Australians in the series opener at the Gabba in Brisbane.
“I think the guys are ready. The way we have prepared has been very good and the team spirit is excellent,” Strauss said. (ANI)
