LONDON - Formula One boss Bernie Ecclestone was punched and kicked to the ground by robbers as they grabbed a 200,000 pound haul from him and his Brazilian girlfriend in London.
Ecclestone was attacked by four men outside his Hyde Park penthouse on Wednesday night.
The 80-year-old billionaire and his girlfriend, Fabiana Flosi, were both ordered to remove jewellery, including a watch and diamond rings.
The gang managed to flee before police arrived.
Ecclestone was taken to hospital where he was treated for what was described as a “minor” injury.
“We were called to reports of a man and woman who had been robbed in south west London at approximately 10.30pm on Wednesday night,” the Daily Mail quoted a Metropolitan Police spokesman, as saying.
“The man, aged 80 years old, was taken to a west London hospital for treatment to a minor head injury. The woman was not injured. At this early stage it is believed a quantity of jewellery was stolen, but we cannot disclose details of what was stolen as yet.”
‘No arrests have been made at this time and inquiries are continuing,” he added.
The robbers are believed to be from the same gang, which is feared to be behind a string of attacks on the rich and famous in London. (ANI)
