MELBOURNE - Australian captain Ricky Ponting reckons that the atmosphere at the Melbourne Cricket Ground will be electrifying if the first-day crowd for the Boxing Day Ashes Test reaches an expected record of over 90,000.
“With that amount of people coming to watch the game, there’s no doubt the nerves from players on both teams are going to be pretty high,” the Sydney Morning Herald quoted Ponting, as saying.
“It will be a great atmosphere here, I don’t think there’s any better ground in the world to play cricket on, maybe even to play international sport on. There’s sure to be a great turnout.”
“It will be very electric when we take the field tomorrow and hopefully that has a good result on the way that our team performs,” he added.
Victory in the fourth Test will help Australia’s bid to regain the urn.
The five-match series is currently tied at 1-1. (ANI)
