MELBOURNE - Stating that he has played 152 Tests for Australia and the fact that 99 of them had been won, captain Ricky Ponting has refused to quit as skipper even though the team has been thrashed by England.
“I’ve played (over) 150 Tests with 99 wins and have experience of winning and am well-equipped to bring on the young guys. I understand what it takes to be a good international player and win Test matches. That is what we need now - we have to find ways of winning,” The Sun quioted Ponting, as saying.
He added: “I want to keep playing and leading the team. I’ve got a lot to offer in both those regards. It’s got to be about the betterment of Australia cricket, it’s never been about me. Hopefully, I’m not remembered only as the guy who lost three Ashes series.” (ANI)
