MELBOURNE - England bowling coach David Saker, who is one of the main architects behind his team retaining the Ashes, has said that he has 10 million reasons for choosing not to return to Australia.

The former Bushrangers assistant coach, who left his six-year role to mastermind England pacers last year, has ruled out applying for the impending vacancy to coach Australia’s fast bowlers that will be left by incumbent Troy Cooley.

“I’m very happy in England and I’m staying put,” The Age quoted Saker, as saying.

“It’s a great time for English cricket and I’m happy to be working with the England bowling group. I would look at going back to Australia for 10 million dollars. Realistically I am happy where I am,” he said.

He believes Australia’s much-maligned pace bowlers have been unfairly criticised for surrendering the Ashes to England on home soil for the first time since 1986-87.

“Australia’s bowlers are going all right. ‘It’s their batsmen that need extra help but it’s not all bad news for Australia,” Saker said.

Saker echoed the sentiments of former Australian international paceman Bruce Reid who believes the inconsistency dogging Mitchell Johnson is a bigger issue than any lack of bowling skill. (ANI)
