Arsenal can overtake Man U in Premier League title race: Wilshere
By ANIFriday, January 7, 2011
LONDON - Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere has challenged current Premier League leaders Manchester United saying that his team will overtake them to clinch the coveted top spot.
United currently has a two-point lead at the summit, and is four points ahead of third-placed Arsenal with a game in hand.
Wilshere indicated that Arsenal could fulfil the ambition by beating United when they visit the Emirates Stadium on April 30.
“We showed [against Manchester City] we can dominate games. At the end of the day, we wanted a goal, but it’s a point and we look forward to catching United,” the Guardian quoted Wilshere, as saying.
“I think they will be delighted with the results, but they have still got to come here so its still really open. When they come here, we can beat them,” he added.
The 18-year-old further highlighted that last month’s 3-1 demolition of Chelsea proves that Arsenal can deliver when it counts.
“After the Chelsea game we all thought this could be our season. Now we think it’s a new year and a new start and we are really going to push on,” Wilshere said.
“We are undefeated this year and hopefully we can keep going like that,” he added. (ANI)
