White ‘pinching himself’ after 1.1 million dollar IPL windfall

MELBOURNE - Australian all-rounder has said that his new 1.1 million dollar contract with Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Deccan Chargers has come as a surprise to him.
The 27-year-old, who was installed as Australia’s Twenty20 captain on Friday, was bagged by Deccan Chargers in an auction held in Bangalore on Saturday.
“Obviously it sits pretty well. Like the last couple of days, it probably hasn’t sunk in,” the Daily Telegraph quoted White, as saying.
“It’s obviously a nice thing to happen, the last couple of days, so yeah, what can you say?” he added.
White was part of the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the past three editions of the tournament after being sold for 500,000 dollars in the inaugural season’s auction.
Meanwhile, fellow Australian all-rounder David Hussey, who himself bagged a whopping 1.4 million dollar IPL contract with the Kings XI Punjab, rates White as a sterling leader.
“He oozes lots of self-confidence and I think that helps his cricket brain as well. He’s been around for a long time and I think he’ll do remarkably well in the T20 format and hopefully further down the track higher honours as well,” Hussey said.
“He’s got a very very good cricket brain, he does think very swiftly and he likes to lead from the front and do the business himself and watch others follow,” he added. (ANI)
