Teenaged Kuhar shares lead in Haryana Open golf

GURGAON - Fourteen-year-old Abhishek Kuhar dropped four bogeys in a row on the back nine, but still managed to come back with the days best card of even par 72 to share the lead at the end of the second round of the Haryana Open here Wednesday.
Kuhar, who plays at the DLF Golf and Country Club, shot 77 on first day had six birdies, six bogeys and six pars and went to five-over 149. He shared the lead with Arshad Ali (74) and Surya Jai Prakash (74).
Lying in fourth place is Pranav Kaul (73) at 151 and one shot behind at 152 is Manpreet Maini (74). Overnight leader Shubhankar Sharma shot 80 and slipped to tied sixth at 154.
On a bright sunny day the wind was the concerning factor and the course played narrow, but Kuhar was three birdies on the front nine turned in one-under 35. On the back nine, he birdied the 10th and 11th to go three-under, but bogeys from 13th to 16th saw him drop to one-over. A birdie on par-4 17th saw him back to par.
The top 32 scores after four rounds will qualify for the NCR Cup beginning Feb 15. The top 50 will make the grade for the Northern India Amateur to be played at the Chandigarh Golf Club in March.
