Sub-par round wins Arshad Ali Haryana Open golf title

GURGAON - Arshad Ali brought home the first and only sub-par round of the tournament to sneak ahead of the early leaders to win the Haryana Open at the Golden Greens here Friday.
Arshad indicated his huge potential with seven birdies, four of them on the front nine, and despite six bogeys he stayed under par to total nine-over 297 and win by two shots over Surya Jai Prakash of RCGC, who dropped with a 76 on the final day to total 299.
Arshad started the final day in third place, five behind leader Abhishek Kuhar (79), who slipped to third at 12-over 300. In the second place was Surya, who overnight was three clear of Arshad.
Rakesh Kumar (76) was fourth at 304 and Md Wazir (72) with the second-best card of the final day moved from ninth to fifth at 308.
The top 32 players qualified for the IGUs NCR Cup and the top-50 get into the Northern India Amateur, one of the major events on the IGU Amateur calendar.
