McCullum says New Zealand have forgotten how to win

CHENNAI - New Zealand all-rounder Brendon McCullum has admitted that a confidence crisis is dogging his team ahead of their World Cup campaign.
It comes after New Zealand was hammered by India in their warm-up game in Chennai by 117 runs.
When asked if the Black Caps had forgotten how to win, McCullum said: “That’s probably a fair summation.”
The 29-year-old said that the team has to face up to the fact that under pressure they are not performing well.
“Someone has to flick the switch. Somewhere along the line we have to get ourselves across the finishing line and with a win in the column. If we can do that it will start to breed the confidence that we need,” Stuff.co.nz quoted McCullum, as saying.
“Until such time that we do that, we are going to somehow have to borrow some confidence to stare down those situations and dream that we are capable of achieving success in those moments,” he added.
He also conceded that the death bowling where New Zealand conceded 114 runs in the last 10 overs, which saw India compile 360-5, had to be rectified.
“It’s unacceptable. I guess the effort is there but we have to be better than that and that’s the brutal truth. We need to turn it around very quickly,” McCullum said.
New Zealand has won only two of their last 14 ODIs, slumping first to a 4-0 defeat in Bangladesh before a 5-0 whitewash in India and then a 3-2 loss to Pakistan at home. (ANI)
