SYDNEY - Australian batsman Phil Jaques has said that he still harbours dreams of returning to the highest level of the sport.

Jaques had played 11 Tests until 2008, till persistent back problems stalled his career.

The 31-year-old’s comment comes after he scored an unbeaten 128 for New South Wales in their Sheffield Shield match against Victoria at the MCG. It was his first shield century this season.

“I wouldn’t be playing if I didn’t think I could get back there,” the Age quoted Jaques, as saying. I enjoy playing first-class cricket, but I love to play in Test cricket and I’d love the opportunity to play again.”

“But I have some runs to make and, hopefully, I can get on a run and finish the season strongly,” he added.

The left-handed batsman has scored 902 runs in 11 Tests at an average of 47.47. (ANI)
