Michael Hussey may replace injured Bollinger in Oz World Cup team

SYDNEY - Australian batsman Michael Hussey could be recalled into the World Cup team following fast bowler Doug Bollinger’s exit due to an ankle injury that may require surgery.
Bollinger will return home after sustaining the injury in the defending champions’ seven-wicket win over New Zealand.
Hussey had earlier said that he would be considered for the six-week tournament if a member of 15-man squad was forced to withdraw.
“Initially I thought that you were in the initial 15 and if you were injured then you were pretty much out for the tournament, you can’t be replaced. But I had a call from Cricket Australia saying that’s not actually the case,” Fox Sports quoted Hussey, as saying.
“If there was another injury, then, because I’m now fit again, I could be considered as the replacement player. You don’t wish an injury upon anyone, but I guess there is a glimmer of hope there now,” he added.
Hussey was dumped from the final squad after being considered too big a risk following his surgery on a hamstring tendon last month.
The 35-year-old had sustained the injury during Australia’s ODI series against England. (ANI)
