Two spinners strong option for World Cup clash against India: Strauss

BANGALORE - England skipper Andrew Strauss on Saturday said that two spinners would be a ‘very strong option’ for his team for Sunday’s World Cup Group B match against India in Bangalore.
Strauss said that they would also need to look at the weather and pitch before going ahead with two spinners.
“It’s definitely an option. Obviously, if it’s going turn like it did in Australia warm-up game, then two spinners are going to be a very strong option for us. But I think it is important not to be too assuming that you’re going to do something,” Strauss said.
“You’ve got to look at the conditions, the weather around the moment. So that might change the look in the wicket, and we’ve got to make a smart choice of the toss,” he added.
Strauss, who tasted a tough victory against Netherlands in Nagpur, further said that their strategy would be to keep India under pressure.
“I don’t think there’s a need, there is any case of reinventing, well, I think we just need to play good, smart cricket. In some ways, perhaps its more pressure on India than us in this game,” the England skipper said.
“We can play good, smart cricket, put them under pressure, and hopefully that pressure would come to the fore at some stage, and allow us to get in the line,” he added. (ANI)
