Ancelotti’s position at Chelsea is safe and sound: Ferguson

LONDON - Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson believes that embattled Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti will still be in charge at Stamford Bridge next season.

Ancelotti is under intense pressure having lost his grip on the domestic Double he achieved in his first year at the club.

An alarming slump in form has seen the Blues slip to fifth in the Premier League, and virtually out of title contention - given that they sit 15 points behind United.

“It’s the normal media attention when a manager doesn’t do as well as he can. If we don’t win the league people will be saying the same thing about me, so why should we worry?” the Daily Express quoted Ferguson, as saying.

“I don’t worry for Ancelotti. I believe his position is safe and sound. I really believe that,” he added.

Ferguson also believes that Chelsea is still in the Premier League title contention.

“It isn’t impossible for Chelsea to win the league. Back in 1998, we lost a 12-point lead against Arsenal and it was the same for Newcastle when we beat them to the title,” Ferguson said. (ANI)
