Kuznetsova wears French Open women’s singles crown

PARIS - Svetlana Kuznetsova defeated World number one Dinara Safina 6-4, 6-2 in an all-Russian French Open women’s singles final Saturday to claim her second career Grand Slam title.

The seventh-seeded Kuznetsova won in 1 hour 14 minutes as Safina double faulted and failed for the fourth time overall to win a first major. Kuznetsova’s first Grand Slam crown was at the 2004 US Open.
