Saints coach a victim of Chinese drywall
METAIRIE, La. — Saints head coach Sean Payton says he’s had to move out of his suburban New Orleans house because it is full of Chinese drywall.
Payton, who lives in Mandeville, says he was able to rent a house near the won he left during the last three weeks. He says he feels sorry for residents in Louisiana who have the same problem but can’t afford to make such a move.
The coach is suing the drywall manufacturer, the supplier and the home builder. He says he noticed a problem during hot, humid periods, when certain drywall imported from China has been suspected of emitting sickening fumes that also corrode metal.
Payton says he’s had to replace several computers and that some of his wife’s jewelry turned black.
