Ask the Moon wins Monmouth Park feature

OCEANPORT, N.J. — Jockey Eddie Castro tied a Monmouth Park record by riding six winners on Sunday, including At the Disco in the $60,000 Bernie Dowd Handicap.

Castro won the first, fourth, fifth, sixth, ninth and 11th races on the card to tie the mark first set by Walter Blum in 1961, then equaled in 1984 by Chris Antley, in 1987 by Julie Krone and by Jose Lezcano last year. Joe Bravo also won six races on four occasions — in 1994, 2002, 2005 and 2006.

Trained by Bruce Levine, At the Disco covered the mile and 70 yards over a sloppy main track in 1:40 4/5 and returned $10, $4.80 and $3.60. Luna Park finished seven lengths back in second, while Flirtatious Smile was a half length back in third.

In Sunday’s feature race, the $70,000 Lighthouse Stakes, Ask the Moon ran off to an easy win, beating Talkin about Love by 1¼ lengths.

Ridden by Joe Bravo and trained by Ned Allard, the 4-year-old filly covered the 1 1/16 miles on the sloppy track in 1:44 1/5 and paid $19, $10.60 and $4.60.
