Serena Williams joins Venus in Wimbledon semis
WIMBLEDON, England — Serena Williams is back in the Wimbledon semifinals after beating Victoria Azarenka of Belarus 6-2, 6-3.
Williams broke the eighth-seeded Azarenka for a 5-3 lead in the second set and then served out the match at love Tuesday, converting her first match point with a forehand winner.
Williams will next play No. 4 Elena Dementieva for a spot in the final, where she could once again come up against big sister Venus.
Five-time champion Venus plays top-ranked Dinara Safina in the other semifinal. It’s the first time since 2006 that all four top seeded players reached the semifinals.
