Pearn and Groulx hired as Canadiens assistants

MONTREAL — The Montreal Canadiens have filled out the staff under new coach Jacques Martin by hiring Perry Pearn as an assistant and Pierre Groulx as goaltending coach.

Both Pearn and Groulx, who were hired Monday, have worked with Martin in the past. They will join and returning assistant Kirk Muller.

Groulx spent the past four seasons with the Florida Panthers, where Martin served first as head coach and then as general manager before moving to Montreal. Groulx was the video coach for the Ottawa Senators for five seasons and was part of the coaching staff for Canada at the 2005 world hockey championship.

Pearn spent most the past five seasons as an assistant with the New York Rangers. He worked as an assistant to Martin with Ottawa from 1996-04.
