shoaib akhtarKARACHI - Controversial Pakistan fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar has declared himself hundred percent fit, saying he would soon force his way back into the national squad.

Akhtar, who was left out of World Twenty20 team due to a skin infection and was being referred to as a spent force by experts, said he would make his critics eat their words through his performances.

“I am going to silence the people who are talking against me by making a successful international return soon,” Akhtar said during an interview with Geo television.

The injury prone pacer claimed that there never has been any problem with his fitness, and said he is ready to take to the field whenever required.

“I must tell you that there were never any problems with my fitness. I was dropped from the Twenty20 world cup on medical grounds. I’ve recovered from that and am 100 percent fit. I’m in the best form of my life and am training extensively,” The News quoted Akhtar, as saying.

He expressed his hope of being recalled into the national team for the Twenty20 International against Sri Lanka scheduled to be played on August 12.

Akhtar also thanked former captain Waqar Younis for supporting him in tough times.

“Waqar was a great fast bowler. He has been a good friend and also gives me valuable advice,” he said.

Akhtar may be hoping of returning to the national team, but his recent comments where he threatened the PCB of taking legal action for omitting him from the T20 squad might dampen his chances. (ANI)
