ABU DHABI (GaeaTimes.com)- South Africa proved yet again that they are one of the biggest contenders for the 2011 World Cup when they thrashed the Pakistani side in the first T20 on Tuesday. In spite of Shahid Afridi showing great faith in his new side before the clash, it was evident that the South African veterans were just too heavy for them. The match was broadcast live on Ten Sports and cricket fans all over have been scrambling to get details of the clash on the web.

In spite of the South Africans playing some new players in the side, they showed perfect balance from the very beginning when the Pakistanis came down to bat. Wickets fell at regular intervals and it was Lonwabo Tsotsobe who kept up the pressure. Finishing with figures of 16/3 from his 4 overs. Reeling at 90/6 at one point, all chances of Pakistan scoring a competitive total were put to rest by Johan Botha who suffocated the lower middle order and also bagged 3 wickets towards the end. For fans who watched the cricket match live on Ten Sports, it was a rather dull show in the first innings from Pakistan.

The South African innings, however, started shakily as Shoaib Akhtar showed that he still has the ability to turn a match on its head. The former Kolkata Knight Rider took two wickets in his second over and it looked like the South African middle order will have to do a lot of hard work to reach the target of 120. Sadly for the Pakistani fans watching live on Ten Sports, the South African ship was steadied by JP Duminy (41) and Colin Ingram (46*) who ensured that the Proteas reach the target comfortably with 10 balls to spare.
