Pachuca tops Deportivo Jalapa 3-0 in CONCACAF Champions League preliminary round

Mexico’s Pachuca tops Guatemala’s Jalapa 3-0

PACHUCA, Mexico — Mexican club Pachuca beat Deportivo Jalapa of Guatemala 3-0 Tuesday night in the first leg of the CONCACAF Champions League preliminary round.

Juan Carlos Cacho opened the scoring in the 42nd minute, before goals from Gabriel Caballero in the 55th and Christian Gimenez in the 74th sealed the win. The second leg will be played next week.

The CONCACAF Champions League is the top club competition for North and Central America and the Caribbean and is contested by 24 clubs.

Earlier Tuesday, DC United played to a 1-1 tie at home against Luis Angel Firpo of El Salvador.
