Gillispie offered plea bargain in DUI case

LAWRENCEBURG, Ky. — A prosecutor says she has offered former Kentucky coach Billy Gillispie a plea bargain in a drunken driving case.

Anderson County Attorney Bobbi Jo Lewis discussed the plea bargain in court Wednesday during a pretrial conference with Gillispie’s attorney, William Patrick. Gillispie didn’t attend.

Lewis says no agreement has been reached. Patrick says a “reasonable offer” was proposed but he needs to discuss it with his client.

Gillispie is scheduled to appear Oct. 5. He was arrested last month on a driving under the influence charge after refusing sobriety tests during an early morning traffic stop in Anderson County. He later checked into an alcohol rehab program in Texas.

He was fired this season after two years coaching the Wildcats.
