Pak pacer Aamer has learnt to hurt the opposition’

LAHORE - Pakistani pacer Mohammad Aamer is learning the nuances of international cricket fast. The way he claimed Sachin Tendulkar’s wicket at the Centurion proves just that, a Pakistani cricket expert has said.

“He has learnt that if you want to hurt the opposition, then you must target their main man. So far he has been able to deliver every time,” The Nation quoted Mudassar Nazar, the former director at PCB’s Lahore-based National Cricket Academy, as saying.

“Think of the Twenty20 when he went for an all-out attack on Dilshan and Jayasuriya and promptly dismissed them. So I am not at all surprised at him accounting for Sachin,” he added.

The 17-year-left medium pacer found the perfect line outside the off stump as Tendulkar edged a delivery into Akmal’s gloves during Pakistan’s first match of ICC Champions Trophy.

Former Pakistan skipper Wasim Akram picked Aamer at a pace camp in Lahore in May 2007.

“Aamer has been a very confident young man right from the start. Even at 15-year-old, he did not suffer from lack of confidence. It is simply because of the abundance of talent God has been kind enough to shower on him. Whether he can fill in for Shoaib Akhtar it is rather too early to judge,” Mudassar said.

“If he remains fit then he will certainly take more wickets than Shoaib took in his career,” Nazar added. (ANI)
