LAHORE - Former Pakistan captain Wasim Akram is likely to be appointed as the bowling consultant of the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), The Daily Times reported.
The KKR management, however, is yet to confirm the report regarding Akram’s new assignment, but according to media reports the former Pakistani speedster would be seen working with KKR’s fast bowlers in the Indian Premier League’s (IPL) third edition next year.
Akram is known to be close to prospective Knight Riders captain Sourav Ganguly and it is said that a good rapport between the two may seal the deal for Akram.
The KKR has already appointed former Pakistan coach Richard Pybus as the head coach of the team following a major controversy which erupted after coach John Buchanan’s multi-captain theory backfired during the IPL’s second edition.
Pybus has worked with the Pakistani cricket team during the 1999 World Cup. (ANI)
