CENTURION - Tainted Pakistan fast bowler Mohammad Asif has cleared the dope test conducted on him earlier this week here.
The Pakistani team management has received the test reports late on Tuesday, The News reports.
“His (Asif’s) dope test, conducted here on Monday, resulted negative,” said Pakistan t team manager Yawar Saeed.
It may be noted that Asif had tested positive for nandrolone twice before.
With Asif getting the clearance, his chances of playing in the game against Australia has increased as captain Younis Khan has already made it clear that the reserve players would be getting a chance to prove their mettle against the Aussies.
Asif was banned from international cricket for one year after failing a dope test. His career had plummeted after he failed a dope test during the Indian Premier League’s (IPL) inaugural season.
He was also detained at the Dubai airport for 19 days for carrying an illegal substance (opium) while returning from India. (ANI)
