Swiss skier Lara Gut out until January
COMANO, Switzerland — Swiss skier Lara Gut has had more surgery on her dislocated right hip and is not expected to race until a month before the Vancouver Olympics open Feb. 12.
Gut spokesman Roberto Mazza said she will use crutches for a month and must not ski for at least three months.
Gut had arthroscopic surgery last Friday to stabilize her hip after crashing during giant slalom training Sept. 29. The 18-year-old skier returned home Tuesday.
She will be out until January. Her team had targeted a December return in World Cup races at Val d’Isere. Gut won the downhill silver medal there behind Lindsey Vonn at the world championships last February.
