Nicholls State defeats SE Louisiana 45-30
HAMMOND, La. — LaQuintin Caston ran for two touchdowns and threw for another to lead Nicholls State to a 45-30 victory over Southeastern Louisiana on Thursday night.
Caston, who rushed for 82 yards, and Marlin Meeks, who had 115 yards, led a running attack that compiled 322 yards.
Caston’s 1-yard run gave the Colonels (3-8, 2-5 Southland Conference) a 45-23 lead with 3:17 remaining in the game.
Southeastern Louisiana’s Brian Babin was 27-for-46 for 382 yards and three touchdowns. His 27-yard touchdown pass to Luis Sobalvarro gave the Lions (6-5, 4-3) a 13-7 advantage with 4:02 left in the first quarter.
It was their only lead as Bobby Felder returned an interception 63 yards for a score and Earvin Moore scored on a 1-yard run to give the Colonels a 21-13 advantage with 4:58 left in the first half.
Andre Cryer caught six passes for 90 yards and two TDs for Southeastern Louisiana.
