Palo Alto- Stanford University running back Toby Gerhart gave a power packed performance during Saturday’s match when his team Stanford Cardinal clashed against rival Notre Dame at the Stanford Stadium. Owing to the young running back’s amazing performance, Stanford clinched their victory against Notre Dame by the score of 45-38.

Toby Gerhart played a pivotal role in keeping his team together and at the same time rushed for an astounding 205 yards with 29 carries which helped his team to take the much needed lead. The player also registered a touchdown in the final minute of the game which enabled his team to clinch the win in the highly anticipated match. While reacting to the player’s amazing performance, Jim Harbaugh appreciated his contribution to the team’s victory. Moreover, the coach also implied that the Heisman Trophy prospect has revealed to all by the stunning manner in which he played the game. Cornerback Richard Sherman also had good words to say about the young player and added that the way he performed reflected that he would surely ensure his team’s victory.

Meanwhile, Toby Gerhart’s scintillating performance came at the right time as it enhanced his chances of winning the much coveted Heisman Trophy. The young player is among the top contenders for winning the trophy, which is given out annually to a college football player for his spectacular performance on the field. Toby Gerhart, who is considered to be one of the top ranking prospects of the 2010 NFL Draft, is among the leading rushers in college football right now, having already run for an impressive 1,736 yards.
