Vonn skis out in slalom; no Americans in 2nd run
ASPEN, Colo. — Lindsey Vonn has skied off-course in the first run of a World Cup slalom, ending her day early for the second consecutive race.
The two-time overall World Cup champion from Vail, Colo., skidded out about a quarter of the way through, one of 24 racers who didn’t finish Sunday’s opening run.
No American qualified for the second slalom run at the circuit’s lone U.S. stop. The top 30 advance and the highest U.S. finisher was Hailey Duke in 35th.
Sarka Zahrobska of the Czech Republic was fastest in the first run at 52.14 seconds, more than a second better than anyone else. She won last year’s Aspen slalom.
Vonn did complete the first run of Saturday’s giant slalom, but her right ski hit a rock early and her time was too slow to advance.
