Retired snowboarder Krings returns for Olympics
VIENNA — Former overall snowboarding World Cup champion Doresia Krings will return to the circuit in an attempt to qualify for the Vancouver Olympics.
The 32-year-old Austrian retired last season but said Thursday she is preparing to take part in World Cup races in Bad Gastein, Austria, on Jan. 10 and in Veysonnaz, Switzerland, five days later.
Krings says she has two chances to qualify and is aware it’s a bit “tight and thus risky.”
Krings earned 11 World Cup titles and was the 2007 overall champion but never won an Olympic medal. She retired after the snowboarding world championships in South Korea, in January.
